Life According To Beyoncé
By: Honey B. Baker
Let me start this off by saying I am not a member of the BeyHive but I do enjoy Beyoncé’s music and I respect her hustle, grind, and I stand in owe of her influence. Here are some of the life lessons we can all learn from Beyoncé’s music and her public persona.
7) Family Is Key:
Momma taught me good home training, my daddy taught me how to love my haters, my sister taught me I should speak my mind, my man made me feel so goddamn fine... (Flawless- BEYONCÉ)
Family is key, they are our support system. Be it your blood family or people who feel like family.
6) It’s Okay To Be Single:
All the single ladies, all the single ladies... (Single Lades- I AM)
I’ve got me, myself, and I... (Me, Myself, and I- Dangerously in Love)
Don’t you ever get to thinking you’re irreplaceable (Irreplaceable- B’ Day)
Middle fingers up, put them hands high, wave it in his face, tell ‘em boy bye... (Sorry- LEMONADE)
It is okay to be single and kick that no good dude to the curb. You deserve happiness not a headache. So tell that boy bye!
5) The Haters Are Going To Talk, Let Them:
I twirl on my haters... (Formation-LEMONADE)
Always stay gracious, get the best revenge is getting your paper... (Formation- LEMONADE)
Beyoncé has suffered attacks on her name, reputation, and people have gone as far to even make cruel and uncalled for comments about her precious daughter, Blue. However, Beyonce unlike so many celebrities who “clapback” at every rude comment or perceived slight Beyonce let’s the haters talk and she focuses on getting her money.
4) Be Your Sisters’ Ally:
Okay ladies let’s get in formation... (Formation-LEMONADE)
Who runs the world? Girls... (Run The World (Girls)- 4)
We are our sisters’ keeper and Beyoncé’s music is girl power anthem after girl power anthem. Our sister is our confidante not our competition.
3) You’ve Got Believe You’re The Bomb For Someone Else To Know It:
I’m so crown, bow down bitches. (Bow Down- BEYONCÉ)
She walked in the building like nobody’s business... (6 Inch- LEMONADE)
Every day when you walk outside you’ve got to know you’re the baddest chick walking Planet Earth. You are a Queen. This is your domain and you coming for the crown every day.
2) No Hustle, No Reward:
I see it, I want it, I grind till I own it (Formation- LEMONADE)
She grinds from Monday to Friday, works from Friday to Sunday (6 Inch- LEMONADE)
If you’re not willing to work for it, you’re not deserving of it. If you don’t hustle, you’ll never have it.
1) If You Fall Get Up and Act Like It Never Happened:
Imma keep running because a winner don’t quit on themselves (Freedom-LEMONADE)
In this life from time to time we will all fall flat on our faces. Get up, dust yourself off, and get right on moving like nothing ever happened.

Closed Until Further Notice By: Honey B. Baker The last two years in my dating life have been quite simply a disaster. I have been on a couple dates that made me wonder when a camera crew was going to come around the corner. I have met dudes who were full of potential and others who left much to be desired. Currently, I am jaded, embittered, and tired. For the time being I want to be left alone. My heart and my mind are closed until further notice. Over the past two years, I have endured a series of stinging blows that have wounded me mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. I need time to heal.
Foreword to "To Live, Learn, and Die in Halifax Co." : I am a lifestyle writer not a journalist. I normally write about funny stuff: love, life, and a laughter. I like making people laugh not think; I leave that to serious people. When I posted this essay it wasn't to attack anyone and it wasn't to be attacked or chided in return. Normally my posts get about 100 views in a couple of weeks but within two hours of me posting this piece it had over 1000 views. Let me be clear, I am not an expert on schools, I am not an expert on taxation, I am not an expert on the finances of Halifax County. However, anyone with two eyes can look around and see that Halifax County is SUFFERING. I wrote this piece because I have seen the effects that our piss poor schools have had on my generation and all subsequent generations. I spoke about my grandmother's work ethic and her desire to see her children do better not to focus on her parenting. It was to focus on the fact that the
Dreaming With A Broken Heart Part II Three months later.... My life has been pure hell without Kena. She wouldn't return my calls. I even went as far as to go to her parents' house that was damn sure the wrong move I barely escape there without getting my ass whooped by her father who was a former Army drill sergeant. I went to her apartment. She wouldn't answer the door. I went to her job she had security to promptly escort me out. I was truly a man apart. I was sitting at my desk when I got a call from Corey. "Aye man what's up" "Nothing much just sitting in the office.” "Word, well me, Chuck and Kyle are going out Shooters to watch the game tonight. You tryna roll?” Corey had been trying to get me to go out for the past month and I wasn't feeling it. "I think I'm going to chill at the crib and watch it." "Fool you coming out tonight. I'm sick of your ass sitting round the house acting like it's the end
